I had also assumed that some of our solutions were modelled on solutions implemented elsewhere - especially the massive increase in small parcel delivery. So many many many of our post offices are now just shops run for profit by little family groups. A bit like a convenience store. Even in my local area, some are much better than others, eg Edgecliff offers far superior service than does Paddington.Juliehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09513648613788716017noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1917748826116414599.post-63897557545758335042011-10-27T07:45:07.380+11:002011-10-27T07:45:07.380+11:00The United States Postal Service is going through ...The United States Postal Service is going through similar troubles, so it was interesting to hear you tell of Australia's attempts to address the changing times. They are less wedded to one-job-for-life than we were. It is essential that they be like this, too. No good crying over a job that no longer serves a function. Best to 'migrate' to areas of the economy that are creating new types of jobs.Juliehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09513648613788716017noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1917748826116414599.post-60347249624703499042011-10-18T16:28:44.575+11:002011-10-18T16:28:44.575+11:00Australia Post seems to be one of the few postal s...Australia Post seems to be one of the few postal service in the world that hasn't been so affected by the losses in snail mail because they've made structural changes to take advantage of the popularity of online shopping and parcel deliveries.Jimhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16361781616939928650noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1917748826116414599.post-439249773856081722011-10-18T15:06:36.415+11:002011-10-18T15:06:36.415+11:00I worry about the loss of jobs for the postal work...I worry about the loss of jobs for the postal workers.Katehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09223040482420514208noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1917748826116414599.post-35502513621910185842011-10-18T07:25:11.273+11:002011-10-18T07:25:11.273+11:00It is fascinating to see the transformation of the...It is fascinating to see the transformation of the postal service. I am glad it is happening. Mind you we still get quite a lot of snail mail but not personal letters.
