Tattered Bookmarks: Cooper's Corner

Chaotic intersection of
Bellevue, Cross and New South Head
triangulates this ugly delapidation
of between the wars art deco apartment;
Where our aproned housewife with her tight perm
greets her beige shoe-salesman alighting the 5:30 tram.

  1. I feel as if I've just tumbled backward, head over heels, through five or six decades.

  2. Sounds, and looks like a pub. Your description brings to mind scenes from Catherine Cookson's books. Rather nostalgic.

  3. BFG: I don't have much of a Cookson background, but I did have images out of Ruth Park swirling around my mind.

  5. Well, that's a very descriptive commentary! You painted a picture I can see clearly in my mind. The not-so-good old days!

  6. Julie,
    Your words amaze me as do your photographs. A wonderful mix that I will never achieve. A tip of my hat to you my friend.

  8. The letters are classy (esp. since the corner is repeated). I re your poem - brattcat said it really well.

  10. I was distracted by the image created by your word, but there is an older name under the paint of "Cooper's", someting shorter, like "Can...", an older name I guess...
