A Sydney Christmas - Tenth Day

Hyde Park Barracks, Macquarie Street
Carol of the Birds (Verse 3 of 3)
Friar-birds sip the nectar of flowers,
Currawongs chant in wattle-tree bowers,
In the blue ranges Lorikeets calling,
Carols of bushlands are rising and falling,
Orana! Orana! Orana to Christmas Day.

    I like the barracks the best. The library is a bit over the top. I remember those stamps and think I have them in my collection, which I must do something about soon.
    BTW we have lived there for 20 years.

    I had a massive stamp collection until about 8 years ago when I gave the lot away to a young boy in a High School I worked in. Regret it now - but hey!

    20 years ... 20 years. I guess I lived in a house in St Ives from 1978 to 1998.

    It's for the photographers community I've joined. They will nominate the best photos. I don't think I've any posibility to win, but it's just for fun and it's a way to improve because they are very though.
    Let's see the results next month.

    I remember the 1962 and 63 stamps well. The photos are fantastic ... the lights seem brighter this year or perhaps it is the darn good photography making them so magical.

    I've been away from your marvellous blog for far too long. Funnily enough yesterday - when you commented on mine - thankyou - I had yours open ready to comment and got lost in the wonders of it. I adore this series, Julie. How clever you are - photos and words, of course. Stunning! Today's stamps are so beautiful - whatever happened to subtlety? - they had it in those days it seemed.
