Black and white does a better job of focusing attention on the main subject. With color we might be distracted from seeing her wispy white hair, round spectacles and calm demeanor. I like this very much.
What I'm most drawn to in this stunning portrait is the texture. The texture of her skin and her hair and her jacket. A remarkable piece of work, Julie.
Nope, her paper and no posing whatsoever. I just had to wait for her to look up each time to check out the number of the bus she could hear approaching.
Beautiful black and white Julie.
ReplyDeleteA photo beautiful.

ReplyDeleteJulie, this is a stunning photo. From the crisp sharp well composed image, through to the interesting subject to the slash of light in the background.
ReplyDeleteDid you note that she was reading the 'Financial Review'?
ReplyDeleteJulie, yes the 450D and tripod made a world of difference.

Did she pose for you? I know that was your FT. Good work anyway. Reminds me, I used to wait for the 500 or 501.

ReplyDeleteI feel uncomfortable photographing strangers. I guess I need to get past that!!
Wow you've got some remarkable shots here. Glad I found you. As an aside I noticed you're a fan of 40's swing. Love it!
ReplyDeleteI love this in b&w, it keeps your focus on the woman.
ReplyDeleteNice one. Like the way the light mirrors her eye line.

ReplyDeleteBeautiful photo. I've also spent time waiting for a bus to Bondi. I don't remember being this patient.
ReplyDeleteThose lines etched in her face have so much history to tell...
ReplyDeleteFabulous portrait this morning, Julie.
ReplyDeleteJulie, the Slik tripod is 1.27kg and 56cm long, folded. They're very popular. Apparently, they're selling a pile of them every day.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely superb portrait. This is one wise lady I'd think.
ReplyDeleteAwesome and classic Julie!
ReplyDeleteFantastic portrait. She looks very wise and her choice of reading material supports my thought about her.
