The Sacred Ibis of Ancient Egypt helped Ra, the Sun God, transport the souls of the departed across the skies from one day to the next.
This WhiteIbis ponders life, death and the whole damn thing, on the lip of the El Alamein Fountain which stands on the cusp of Kings Cross and Potts Point.

ReplyDeleteA rather frightful looking ole bird! Amazing that all that heavy pondering can be done on one leg -- and those toes hanging onto two posts, all the weight on the empty space between. Rather amazing ole bird. :) (The turquoise blue water is also amazing!)

ReplyDeleteThank you, Jose. Ibis get an unfair coverage in this city. It is nice to do something positive for their image. I enjoyed the shoot, and got quite a few images but heeded his head in relief like this to show how ancient it really is.
