Sydney Seasons

As I tried to explain last week, one needs to be a seasoned observer to note the passing of the year here in Sydney. If the temperature goes down to a maximum of 17, and there's a bit more wind, and a bit more rain about, that pretty much ticks our winter.

However, our recently departed Autumn, the most glorious season of them all, has maybe a rainy day a fortnight if we're lucky. Not much wind, spare a light nor'easter. And with the temperatures between 22 and 25. These shots were all taken during this recent Autumn. The first two were in Hyde Park South, and the final two in Ormond Street, Paddington.

You're right, Julie, autumn is wonderful.
Our spring has yet to warm up. LOTS of rain, more thunder-storms forecast for tonight. Last night the town had fireworks for Redcliff Day, terrifying the dog, so Dick decided, since I'm sleeping in the back room while testing my sleep apnea machine, to let Lindy sleep with him. I might be in the back room forever.
Love your photos.
I'm reading Kirsten's blog and thinking of you, and I know I promised you an e-mail, but I'm SO slow.

That's okay, Kay. My own ability to concentrate at the moment is shot to ribbons, and it feels like simply going through a process. I want to get to the end of this week, and yet I don't want this week to move at all.

Autumn can be very rewarding with warm colors and warm feelings. The last picture of your post reflects that very well.

Beautiful autumn colours. I was asked to come up with a one sentence philosophy on my photography, which is "Photography is good for the soul." Another would be "Photography keeps you sane." Use it as an aid, something to help you get through, to take your mind of things for a few minutes, or longer.

I'm going to remember your description of winter when the snow is piled up to the second story windows next February here in Vermont.

I agree. Autumn is a magical time of the year especially when accompanied by the glow of soft sun.

Awesome! You won't find these autumn colours here. They remind me of my visit to the Kew Gardens in London last October.

Wonderful sensory shots, Julie. I can smell the leaf litter and feel the damp, chill wind.
