The NYHL is a wonderful urban renewal landscape, Mark, but I cannot see the track being used in that way. For starters, it has only been there 20 years, so little history to preserve. For seconds, it is the track ITSEIF that is offensive to the urban space around it. For thirds, the insurance required to protect the citizens who fall off would be prohibitive, and who would pay? Certainly not our Bazza!!
Yeah, its a little impractical to turn it into a NYHL - but I have seen urban design images by the City of Sydney staff who photoshopped ivy all over it.
Joan: Yes, I know you are an afficionado. I crossed over Park Street the other day, at the intersection with Pitt, just as the monorail passed overhead. As it was no longer raining, my brolly was down. I was drenched by the spray from the monorail as it passed above me. I will find other gorgeous curves in my city.
Dalloway: Now that boggles my saturated brain - 3.6 kms of window sill with trailing ivy. I would want to see terracotta pots with scarlet geranium, interspersed with Dichondra Silver Falls. We could ensure that all the OAPs from Ultimo are rostered on to keep the plants healthy. Sydney could be a 'Tidy Town' applicant, 2018.
Julie, I'm afraid I didn't understand your comment regarding my arm... Sorry! :-) I tried to find other meanings for caste but all I got was the social class thing.
