Joan, this one WAS a fearsome creature. To me he was as I could sense his power even when relaxing. And they are big ... and I am so little.
Then two teenage boys came and fed him crackers, and he stood head to head with them. If he had unwound himself fully he would have towered over them. He lost all his grandeur at that moment ... eating crackers and being sort-of food teased. Made me sad, so won't show those shots.
Beautiful shots :) Don't think of him as losing his grandeur but more as him showing compassion to lesser species who were currying favour with a master by feeding him ;)
I flew over here to see your blogs. I also see you are a retired educator. Good for you! I hope to join the ranks in about 5 years. Then I will have more time to blog and take cool photos, like you... You have a good eye in photography. Nice to meet you, Julie.
Wonderful photos of a great Australian. Their breeding arrangements are something special and we "superior beings" could do well to take a leaf out of their book. For one thing they don't breed when things get tough. It all just goes on"hold"...
I don't know that Oklahoma has anything to compete with a kangaroo. Our only marsupal is a Possum whose only skill is in flopping over and playing dead. Lets see, we have Armadillos? No, no, we just can't top a kangaroo.
Wonderful shot of this lovely animal
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Animals, Great photographs

Great shots Juilie! This Kangaroo really knows how to strike a pose.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos of fascinating kangaroos!
ReplyDeleteI'm a sucker for these guys. That last one looks like something out of Wind in the Willows.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful animal! That first picture is amazing Julie.
ReplyDeletegorgeous catch...they are all lovely
ReplyDeletethat's thinking outside the box...whooda thunk it?
ReplyDeleteThey look like they're very comfortable - just sitting there lounging between 'rounds...
ReplyDeleteYou not only think outside the box, you think outside the pouch, too. Marvelous.
ReplyDeleteThey look particularly appealing lounging or scratching, as you've pointed out.
ReplyDeletewonderful shots...when i saw the claws int he first one i was wondering what was going to come out of that box...a magnificent animal. happy tt!
ReplyDeleteInteresting take on the theme. I love the detail of the top shot ... it makes the kangaroo look like such a fearsome creature through.

ReplyDeleteAh gorgeous. I know they're like big rats but love the buggas. The top photo is fab.
ReplyDeleteI could have been boxing a kangaroo in my story. Somehow I think I would have lost. lol :) Thanks for visiting!
ReplyDeleteI love these. So does my nephew, who's in a bit of a marsupial phase.
ReplyDeleteGreat nature shots. I love the way these kangaroos lounge on the grass. Perhaps, symbolising the laid back side to Australian life?
ReplyDeleteThat's thinking WAY outside the box. These are wonderful photos, especially the first.
ReplyDeleteSo typical from your country, they seem to be happy.:D
ReplyDeleteSerge
