A nip was still in the air as the sun peeped over the clumping bamboo into the orchard, planted twenty years ago beside Molly Milligan, where the loam is deep and fertile.
The dew of the night clung to the handiwork of the field spiders, as the warming air stretched its sleepy extremities. Each droplet blinged its beauty, in anticipation of an unwary insect straying into its clutches.

Works of art they are!
ReplyDeleteThese spiders are certainly part of the sisterhood that Charlotte introduced us to. Some webs!
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful...
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my RT. Your photos are gorgeous.
ReplyDeletethe first one looks like a CD. Just marvelous. Love these shots.
ReplyDeleteGreat choice
Good captures.
ReplyDeleteOne of the most interesting creature on this planet.
ReplyDeleteI really like the first, the net seems to be suspended.
Totally delightful.
ReplyDeleteThese are works of art beautifully captured.
Much more prettier than the garish bling on a pop 'star' ;)
ReplyDeleteLove the spider webs! Fabulous pictures. Not too crazy about the bloodsuckers (in the post below) but I must say it makes a perfect Ruby Tuesday post.
ReplyDeleteThese are really pretty! A couple remind me of the old 78 vinyl records.
ReplyDeleteFantastic captures. Very nice creativity and designs.
ReplyDeleteLovely - so delicate.
ReplyDeleteBack and back at work (physically if not mentally) but not posting yet. Will try and get something up for Sky Watch on Friday, then get back to it on the weekend. 1,000 or so shots to go through, a lot of them in RAW so will need time to process.
These are amazing shots. I find webs to be so beautiful and you captured them so well. I love the words too.
ReplyDeleteExquisite photos.... I don't like spiders, but love how they can build a lovely home.
ReplyDeleteSo glad to see you post dear one.

great light - brilliant subject
ReplyDeleteThe first one has a perfect symmetry about it. Great shots.
ReplyDeleteCobwebs are fascinating! Thank for showing these silvery creations! Thanks for your very kind comment. I often visit my daughter in North Queensland and there I met Willie Gordon, a member of the Guugu Yimitrr tribe. He was our guide along the cave paintings. He is such a great guide. Even the children were very much interested. You might like to see my post of Tuesday, 2 September 2008, and other posts linked to North Queensland or Queensland. I often visit my daughter's ex in-laws, who also belong to the Guguu Yimitrr tribe and live in Hopevale now. They consider me to be family and are very hospitable and lovely people. Very devout Christians too.
ReplyDeleteA fascinating close up world which we can now enjoy thanks to skill and technology.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much

And people are still trying to find a fiber that is as relatively strong as cobweb silk! Spiders are so clever.
ReplyDeleteThank you Julie! I'll ask my daughter if we can go there next year. It would be great to see some other parts of this continent of yours.
ReplyDeletelovely photographs :) thanks for sharing..!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photographs, love the light. They seem to float in space.
ReplyDeleteI am glad you enjoyed these treasures, folks. They were enchanting to watch from different angles and such a challenge to photograph.
ReplyDeleteThese are gorgeous! The detail is so exquisite!
ReplyDeleteYour writing is that of a beautiful novel - so very descriptive. Awesome photos!
ReplyDeleteWhat is it about cobwebs, we delight in their photographs but knock them down with a vengence when they appear in our homes. I never tire of seeing them dew spangled.
