Mont Clair

Mont Clair nestles into the brow of the hill as Liverpool Street eases up from East Sydney and into Darlinghurst. Built in 1938 it is a fine example of the art-deco style. It is a block of 42 apartments over 7 floors which is company title rather than tenants-in-common.

  1. This is beautiful, I like the rounded bricks in the first picture and the windows. Such great details, also at the doorway.

  2. What a great way to present this building. Art Deco certainly is appealing.

  3. They don't build 'em like that anymore with style and class unlike today's bland concrete and glass ones :-).

  4. It looks like a nice place to live, Julie. If Canada doesn't get rid of the present government, I might be moving to Australia.

  5. Don't do that, Kay!! Next time around the very same thing is going to happen here. That will be in about August 2013.

  7. Love the art deco style, that would be my apartment in the top shot, the one with the windows wide open.. Like the approach you've taken with the top shot Julie.

  8. Art Deco is a very recognisable style. It seems to have come into it's own again in the past couple of decades. Not only in architecture but also in ornaments and jewelry.

  9. Lovely art deco and great perspective. How are you finding the camera and have you decided what to get?

  10. Ann - I emailed you on the first topic just this morning. I am now doing a comparison of the G12 snd the S100. I am concerned about weight and what I am able to lug around. If I get a 5Dii I would not want a lens heavier than the 24-105. If I get a harness the 5Dii is a possibility, but in Paris it stamps you as a tourista immediately and then I get swamped by gypsies et al. Did I tell you about my cranky old lady who-doesn't-speak-the-lingo disguise?

Either way I don't have the money just yet ... another month should do it though.

  11. I bet the inside art work/design is amazing too, based on the outside. Neat angle.

  15. Many thanks for your appreciation, Jose. It is a gorgeous building and I have many photographs of it from all angles and in all lights. Around the back it borders on the derelict, even though it has undergone very expensive renovations.
