Hah! Gladys & Bazza have just announced that the Monorail is to be pulled down. Excellent!
Now to have the block in front of the town hall made-over into a park (on the surface), remove traffic from George St (and make it into a pedestrian boulevard) and run a light rail down George to CQ, back up Elizabeth to Central. Halve the number of parking stations and parking spots in the city and double their hourly cost.
Then we would have a people's city.
Of course, the rain system would be overloaded and not work. And we would need to do something about the wall-to-wall buses down York.
Have they? Brilliant, must have a look at the news. Doubt we'll ever see a park and light rail at Town Hall but we can hope. I know this intersection well.

Oh I like the monorail. And as for doubling the cost of parking in the city ... it costs a fortune to park there already! Sydney without the buzz of traffic would be awful ... nothing to do but stand around useless traffice like poles.

Not all traffic would be banned: not bicycles, not skate boards, not motorised wheel chairs, neither rick-shaws nor green-shaws not horse-drawn carriages. And certainly not pedestrians.

... or even the RAIL system ... our rain system is working quite well at the moment.
