Interesting comparison. I like the tower on the left better in black and white, as it accentuates the shapes of the structure and the windows. I like the reflection of the tower on the right in color better, as the color highlights the contrast in the reflection.
I must say, I prefer the color version of this shot. You're right, sometimes b&w just doesn't work as well and not every photo is made for monochrome. But it's a good shot whatsoever. Love your angle!
Now I can see what a good job you have done with your conversion and my vote goes for the Black and White! It focuses on architecture, light and lines as colour is not essential to the image anyway. Great photograph by all means!
I think I"m going with the color and the longer view as well. For me the tight cropper, I'm surprised about that but somehow I like the long view best. Both are great shots J. V
Ooh, I disagree with Lachezar. I think the blue is brilliant! And the sun on the tower makes both it and its reflection jump out. Interesting POV either way, Julie.

Brilliant blues there.
ReplyDeleteHi Julie.. For me the vibrancy of the blue sky has tonnes of impact. J
ReplyDeleteFantastic shot!
ReplyDeleteTwo readings indeed.
ReplyDeleteThe challenge being the black portion on the right side.
Good choice.
I prefer this one, both the colour and not cropped. I like the double reflection on the right hand side.
ReplyDeletea very fine shot in color, too. i saw things i hadn't noticed in the b&w.
ReplyDeleteA thrilling shot - I feel as thought I am there with you!
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing at Your Sunday Best!

I have to agree with Joe, the different shades of vibrant blues are just too stunning to mess with Julie, fantastic straight out of camera shot!
ReplyDeleteLovely shot, Julie. Sometimes striaght out the camera gives the perfect shot.
ReplyDeleteMuch better than the b&w to my way of thinking. Very nice, Julie.
ReplyDeleteI like the colour shot. The B&W seems a little too confused.

ReplyDeleteVery stylish!:)
ReplyDeleteTough call. But I think I like the crop and tones of the BW better.
ReplyDeleteFascinating to read eveyone's thoughts on this decision. I can understand how come I was torn from the get-go.
ReplyDeleteI still like them both, but think I am leaning to the B&W ...today I am at any rate!
