This photo requires some study. It's provocative, but I'm not sure why...
Re: the universities. Will the twain ever meet?
Two universities clash in a football game in Gainesville this weekend. Extra police had to be called in for they expect violence (outside of the stadium).
This sort of tribal response leaves me baffled, too, Jacob. The twain don't meet at this undergrad level. They do things like poison grass in quads leaving a logo of their "tribe". This chalk writing is harmless and actually encouraged by our hierarchy because it reduces the amount of sprayed graffiti.
Gossip geek is actually quite witty and they have a good logo which you can google. GG is what the computer science and engineering group call themselves so there is an element of self-deprecating humour involved. I always like people when they can be the butt of their own wit!
Ever tried to write over three steps - and get it right? I have better things to do with two hours ... but they did it and it is very effective ...
Ouch, I thought these violent and ugly things were our exclusive domain with demented football fans... You're right: they're geeks, so probably planned it with prints or computer models with the right perspective on three steps, doing it with gentle chalk. Brilliant, and your photo shows it well.
Julie, I love this photo ... nice context, interesting subject matter and I would not have thought about the three step writing problem but for you mentioning it.
Perfect choice for b&w, Julie. And the effect of the writing over the span of three steps is to flatten the stairway so it appears like a banded wall. Really interesting image.
I've never seen anything like that before on a stairway, over three steps. Quite interesting that it's a promo for their uni revue. Sydney - City and Suburbs

How stupid is that? It's a game!

Great composition. Very interesting.

Super shot from a great perspective. The stairs look as steep as a wall. This picture works very well in black and white.

I am more simple here... dont know what Gossip Geek is but I assumed she might be one... ooopppsss!
Those steps appear to require careful negotiating.
I leave the discussion about the geeks behind...
I really love the photo, good job Julie!
