What do you think the white is? At first I thought pigeons, but now I am thinking the angle too extreme for them and this is more likely to be chemicals leaching from the bricks. Any thoughts?
The glow makes it look rather glamorous. I think the white stuff must be lime seepage from the brick mortar which was commonly used in those days. Sydney - City and Suburbs
Great warm colours as you say. I love these kinds of spaces but tend to stay clear of them from dusk onwards. The one and only murder in Lancaster that I know of whilst we've been here happened in such a place. Two men killed a homeless guy camped out under a road bridge. Terrible stuff - sorry, but this kind of image always brings that shocking event back to mind.
That is probably why this is lit, Eamon. I took this about 6am ... I would not go anywhere down there unless it were some semblance of daylight and there were a fair few other folks around.
What you felt looking at this, then, is what I felt looking at Sean's photo of the little boy jumping from the black line to the white square. Just too much like an event in England about 12 year ago. Sorry to do the same to you.
Sorry for the absence. Life and work caught up with me. At the end of the day, all the energy and brain cells I have left is to post a photo and go to bed.

Fantastic! In a way romantic and mystic, but also a bit scary....... what's in them to make them glow red?
A nice shot - interesting shapes in the arches and a nice contrast between the subdued colour of the grass and the warm colour of the light.
