Julie, you make every sense tingle with these images. I can almost taste the air. Beautiful.

Wonderful photographs. An enormous sky over a fine skyline resting on the deep blue harbor. Sydney is a beautiful city and one I long to see.

Okay, you've made your point. And I agree - Sydney is one of the most beautiful cities in the world! Gonna have to visit some time...and look up some of Lois Anne's Australian relatives!

Starts looking a lot like Singapore or Abu Dhabi, or even Barcelona. Must be such a thing as seafront globalization.

Nice work with these Julie. Lots of pirates, I bet, hung around this harbour in the day.

I can smell that salt water and feel the warmth of the sun.

Rob, I will be in Barcelona in October, so will gather material for a first hand comparison. Much of the harbour shoreline is a National Park and covered with trees.

Birdman, Not in a glamourous Caribbean way I would hazard. More in a Dickensian downtrodden petty thief way!

Great pictures of one of the greatest harbours in the world

Julie, you have hit the nail on the head!
One of the best things you can do in this life is to sail around Sydney Harbour on a yacht, with no motor, on a beautiful day. The Whitsunday Islands comes 2nd, somewhat further back.
Bruce.

Julie said...

I have done both those, Bruce. The Whitsundays is more peaceful whereas Sydney can be quite majestic. Much less traffic up in the Whitsundays, sailing along Whitehaven ... bliss!

The colour in the top one is wonderful, although I thought it was a late evening shot. Barcelona? Is this with the France trip or did you decide to book the Spain historic houses one?

Anonymous said...

The sky line has changed since we lived in Sydney but it is still the most beautiful harbour in the world.

Julie said...

Ann, this is with the France trip. I go to the information evening for the HHT trip this coming Friday evening, although I have since found two more very similar tours of Spain for much less cost!

Amazing colour in the top photo, Julie.

Did you "tweak" the colours or are they au naturel?

Julie said...

No tweaking in Photoshop or similar, this is straight from the camera, However, the camera is set on 5 for contrast and 3 for sharpness. In addition to that, I lowered the exposure two stops to squeeze the light out. The images ere about 8am one Sunday morning early in January.

Vicki said...

That makes it even more stunning. It's almost ethereal.

Wonderful! I love the details... even that wire is transformed into a piece of art.

Jilly said...

Oh yes, Capt. Phillip was absolutely right. Sydney is the most beautiful harbour and you show it to us so amazingly in these stunning photos. The light is fabulous.

Julie, I left an answer to your query for you on Menton DP.

Jilly stole my comment. I was just about to write the same. Great colour, great harbour.

I have to say it again, the harbour is a beautiful thing and you make it look as wonderful as it is ... in the early morning light it takes on a different character to its brash sparkling midday hue.

julie the skyline is stunning...then the close up the mosaic provides is a window into harbour of peace and light
