This is a great illustration of the saying "The whole is more than the sum of its parts." Each picture by itself is nice, but the series makes them really interesting!
Actually, Bill. Look at that first shot again. Down the LH corner, there is a smudge of grey flowing from the feather into the foreground. That is a massively blurred strand of barbed wire.

Fabulous contrast. Hope the bird made it free.
Gorgeous. It made me think of the bird as well.

Oh, Julie, a delicate, harsh, wonderful post.
Wonderful shots Julie, but I give in: How did you get rid of the barbed wire in in the first shot?
Lent over the fence! *grin* but but but ...
I do have another shot where it is only visible if you KNOW it is there.
Come up fairly close, focus on the feather and use a very very open aperture, say F4.0

I love the detail of the feather in the first shot. Great photos.
Interesting concept. I was wondering how you got the first shot, as well.
Fab shots! :)
Lovely shots but the title you have selected adds something special.
Good series. Good eyes too, to spot this.
So they say, this proves it...
Nice set, impressive closeup. You do set the bar rather high for the rest of us.
Excellent photographed.
Sure is a contrast and good photography.
Gorgeous post!
trois photo bien réalisées
Merci, Bergson.
Nice job with the layout... And I love the barbwire close-up...
Stunning. No other word. Stunning!
Taa, Jilly.
