Are they still working?

I like the street lamp ... but my eye was struck by the artistically peeling paint and gracefully rusting roof of the house behind it.

Melbourne has a few that are still operational but I am not sure if they are original. This one still work?

I am not sure if they still work. I shall go down there again one evening over this coming weekend and check. They were 'given' to the City of Sydney by AGL (the company that installed the first gas street lamps in 1841) for the Bicenntennial Celebrations in 1970.

I love the old lamps. Must say, I haven't noticed these ones. I'll make sure I take note, next time I'm down there.

something else I've never noticed.

What's going on? I know I commented on your post yesterday and its not there. Not to worry, can't remember what I said - think it was about being interested in your opinion of the play.

Interesting. I can't say I enjoyed it although I thought it was well acted, especially by Nevin. I did find Hurt disappointing and found him difficult to understand at first. I also though it was a bit close to home as a lot of what came out of Robyn Nevin's mouth, I've heard from my mother time and time again without the drugs, of course, especially about my father. Sounds like my family is more disfunctional than yours.

I would like to have that gas lamp, if it's missing you know where to look. The houses could use a lick of paint.
