Peter from Sydney - the Emerald City reckons he has found the best Jack in Sydney. But I think I have found a better one. I guess I am going by shape of the tree and blossom coverage. Peter's does have a better background than mine.
This jacaranda is growing in Goodhope Street, Paddington, just down from Five Ways.
Do you know where the best Jacaranda in Sydney is growing? Best in what way?

That is one gorgeous tree!
what an amazing tree. love the colours and texture in this photo.
What an amazing tree, Julie. I can't believe the colour of Jacaranda trees anyway, but this one is almost six houses wide! Wonderful.

No Jacaranda in Vermont. What a pity. It's a gorgeous tree.
Jacarandas are my favourite tree!
Gorgeous.
I grew up in Sydney but being up in the New England Tablelands right now it's too cold for them.
I think all Jacarandas in Sydney are splendid, and they are flowering a lot earlier than this side of the ditch. When I visited about a year ago I was really impressed with the ones on Oxford Street, along the walls of the barracks, I think. I especially love it when the blue of the trees is echoed by a carpet of fallen blossom on the ground --- the owners of the cars might not like the blossom on their cars, though.
Yes, I mentioned on Peter's original post how splendid the examples are that are along the wall of Vic Barracks. I will come home that way later this afternoon and see how they are looking this year. Blossoms are a little slower this year, I think.
Not bad. The ones near me seem a bit slow blooming as well. They are starting now but the weather is so bad I
haven't been able to get a shot. Must remember to check out Hyde Park. There was stunner there a few years back.
There was one that used to delight me when I worked in St Leonards because it had a bouganvillia flowering beside it ... an amazing combination. I think context adds something to their beauty. When I was a kid I loved to climb them ... they are a great climbing tree.
Well when you have found the best Jacaranda in Sydney we'll compare it to the best one in Brisbane.
ah yes, it is springtime where you are.......thanks for highlighting one of my favorite trees..
best in what way, indeed! thank goodness jacarandas could care less about that kind of stuff and just do what they do best - bloom beautifully wherever they're planted ;-)
Hi Julie..
I just found your Paris blog via Keith's review this a.m. but I"m a HUGE Sydney fan, so I had to check this one out, too..
I used to have jacaranda trees lining my street in San Diego and I always thought they were the best! I miss them! Thanks for your lovely photo...
