Getting around any city is not easy. It is usualy quicker to cycle or to walk. Environmentally they have the least impact, which is, surely, an aim.
Motorised methods are available but often lead to gridlock and are exorbitantly expensive, not just in ticket cost. In Sydney we have: tram, bus, taxi, water taxi, ferry, train and monorail.

Shanks's pony is still my favourite in the city I have to say.
Lots of great options for getting around in Sydney. Two other cities that would be fascinating to do for this theme are London and Hong Kong. But then I haven't been around the bogoshpere yet... this was my first stop... and I'm sure to be surprised. Nice, Julie.
Wow. What a collection of public transportation options. Transportation is made more complex by having such a huge, irregularly shaped harbor in the middle of a major metropolitan area.
I'll take the water taxi, please!

Ah, so many options.
That water taxi looks like the go.
Where is my favourite ... the monorail?
Oops ... shall rectify that right now ...
Sounds like the Sydney city planners have tried their best to get people into, out of and around the city.
Thorough coverage, althugh ou don't have thouse funny little pedal taxis that I see around Macquarie Street sometimes.
Looks like a moving city. Please have a safe road ahead and a good start into the new month, week as well.

Wow. I think you've managed to capture all forms of PT. Great work.
Ann, I have a pedal taxi somewhere. SHall hunt for it.
This is an interesting set. It makes me realize that my dear Tulsa is nothing like the big city that is Sydney. In your last picture you have found 4 modes of transportation -- automobiles, trains, buses, and ever a few brave pedestrians.
A great collection of public transport photos. I’m glad you added the monorail photo (with taxi and buses).
Wonderful! You've given us the lot and it's so good to see. Love that foot in the first photo just off the ground.
I like, transport by foot, so the first photo
Like Jilly, I really like that first image. Hoofing it - the essentials, well captured.
I am envious: you have almost every kind of public transportation there and they even look efficient. A sadly different music here: I'm lucky to be able to walk where I need in town.
So many options!
Trust you to turn theme day into the ecyclopedia entry for "public transport', Julie! Great shots showing the great transport options of your great city.
Brilliant Theme Day post. Mine is up on November 1 at Portland Oregon Daily Photo; it’s a photo that I took on the Portland, Oregon, MAX Light Rail last Saturday.
