Having cleaned up the crumbs of yesterday, they bill and coo anticipating the arrival of Madeleine and Gaston, for it is they who throw open the shuttered shop, slide a batch of croissants into the oven, and double ristretto the first two coffees of the day. The pigeons clatter their claws on the footpath, expectantly.
Once aromas like this permeate Five Ways, people and their crumbs are not far behind.

I can feel the sun starting to warm my face and the coffee and croissants warming my belly.
Milk makes the day sunny ;-)
Interesting. I was delivering milk very early 50 years ago. Funny association.
What a difference a few hours makes...

Clearly not in the commuter belt. By 6am we are on our way and certainly no time for lolling around having coffee and feeding the pigeons.
We ARE only 10 minutes to the CBD, Joan. But my guess is that for folk from Paddo, the 'wilds' start from Glebe Point Road.
I can smell that coffee~ great little spot.
Great seeing the differences in time of day.
Beautiful photography and storytelling, and an amazing transformation. I love and prefer the mood of the morning image, but then again I love these corner cafes in the sunshine hour too...
Thanks for visiting and your kind comments!
Great post. What's ristretto?
Ristretto is a method of making coffee where the milk is sent twice over the beans to extract a richer fuller flavour. Not for the faint-hearted.
You've got the Sydney eye awright! Great pics of Paddo and I must check out Redhead Beach. We are at Shoal Bay at the moment. You would love that too!
