Twice a week, with my back-pak in place, and trundling my trolley, I pick my way gingerly over to Double Bay for a spot of 'ma-care'. Down past the 'home' where my father awaits that final journey, through the children's play-ground, and out onto Stephen Street. Using a stick to direct my wobbles, I pause, and look up. I think myself in Giverny, once more. The wall is well hidden behind a screen of rampant bamboo, so I make like M. Monet, and frame 'til my heart is content.

Like you, I have a well-beaten path in my city. I like it when I see something new, new to me. I love finding something that was always there, that I didn't know to look for.
Your words are pure poetry and that first photo made me gasp... love that intense color.

Peter, I wish we could. The 18 footers club requires membership if you live in the area and costs something like $500 upfront to join and $400 per year. Mind-blowing, is it not?
Possibly I was under-the-influence, but I feel bad about that book. When I got home on Wednesday, I went online to Book Depository and ordered it, plus 4 others (mainly about writing) plus 2 baby books. The next day A&R and Borders went into receivership. I console myself that Dymocks, whom you know I adore, would have had to order them in for me, and then I could not have managed to carry them home.
That font comes free with Blogger and is called 'Homemade Apple'.
Love the new font. Homemade Apple huh ... I made homemade apple pie this week .. not even shop bought pastry.
I am shock about the bookshop demise. But I also am glad Dymocks is still there. Also, hopefully it will give some of the excellent independent bookshops a boost.
With books to read, places to walk and things to photograph on the way ... bliss.

The ochre wall photo is lovely...got my french film festival tickets aussi...So excited about the French Film Festival..something I look forward to every year..It is such a pity about the Academy Twin...very much an icon of Sydney's East and an important part of my life..think I will write a poem about it.

Yes, I regret the passing ot the AT. It had such a great feel to it. I like the theatres at Chauvel but not the foyer nor the stairs. But not keen on the stairs at Verona either, and only like one of their theatres.
But yes, looking forward to FFF, although I think the programme was 'lazy' this year.
