Mistaken identity

He's not like any cat I've ever known. Look at those claws! I guess he can 'spit' like a cat. He could be some sort of possum. What do you think?

Hmm... the only thing that rings true on this is that it might not be very well house trained... maybe you should call Betty, just out of curiosity!

Just back from 3 glorious, warm, sunny days in your city. I felt e little like I was cheating on my beloved Melbourne, such was the extent of my flirtation with Sydney.

Does it have a naked, pink tail? It's an opussum! And I thought you guys had cornered the market in marsupial knowledge! ;-)

I don't think I want to know... ;-)))

Sounds like a joke to keep everyone on their toes.

I gather this to be either a Brushtail Possum or, more likely, a Ringtail Possum. See that right front paw. See those two 'thumbs'? That apparently is the key.

Yes, I suspect it is an in-joke of some kind. I have possums in my trees, anbd this sign is about 100m away.

LOL. Don't think I'd want it back.

It looks like an American Opossum to me. The phone number actually belongs to a hotel in Paddington. I couldn't resist ringing it. It's funny but I'm not sure what the intended joke is exactly.

Which one, Jim?

Recently - like the last 10 days - all posts, shopfronts and bus shelters have been plastered with posters for a little black cat lost over in Darlinghurst. That is probably 1km away. I wonder if this is a spoof?

If it looks like a possum, walks like a possum, and smells like a possom, it's a possum.

Now if I found this little darling roaming the streets I don't think I would be inviting it home with a bit of Snappy Tom.

Julie said...

Strikes me this little darling comes with built-in snappy tom.

Could be the Emmaville Panther? Perhaps a DropBear ... Bettty of the 3 T's sound like a wee Scottish lassie. Good luck.

If this isn't a trick poster, then would not want to come across such a creature in the street.

Think the owner needs a lesson in biology

Little bit scary when you click on and make it bigger Julie, hope it's a joke and we don't have these things roaming around haha!

Someone MUST be playing a joke here?!? Of course it is a possum, but this made me smile! Thanks!

Doesn't look cute like the brush tail possums that invade our place. Last week orignally thought the possums had got in to cause havoc until I realised the drawers and cupboards were open and possums don't do that ... though they are certainly not very well house trained.

Were you invaded? Robbed?
Shall email you.

A break in. The story is on Burnbrae Journal.
