"Vanity of vanities; all is vanity" Ecclesiastes assures us.
I showed Norma the colour photograph that I took during our first meeting, and she was horrified.
"Oh dear, look at that mouth. That will never do, dear."
"Here. Take another one."
She pulled her beanie down, straightened her clothing, and carefully took her glasses off.
"Are you vain, Norma?"
"Oh, no dear. I don't really need them. I just wear them to humour the children."
Norma is in a high care, secure dementia unit. She uses a walker to get about. I have heard tell that she is a challenge.

Wonderful message to go with a especially wonderful photograph.
we all look better with a smile :)
Isn't it wonderful to think that she's still vain! That means she's still part of the human race and knows it.
This is even better than Freddie. I agree with her, the smile is so much better.
i think i love the exchange as much as the two photos of her.
Yep. She was right.
The two photos show the two sides to her personality. "The challenge" and "the vain". It must be hard to deal with that awful illness.
The new portrait is a great one.
I can see her youthful self in this portrait.
Love her comment about the glasses worn to humour the children! What a character with a sense of mischief AND vanity!
