A magnetic attraction

I watched this Ma and her young charge, as they trundled along the walking path through Prince Alfred Park, from the Greek church up on Cleveland Street, nearly to the exit from the park in Chalmers Street just up from the Devonshire entrance into Central Station. I had a good idea where they were headed ...

When I was a kid we had a ride on the back of the Elephant at Melbourne Zoo. Did they do that at Taronga?

Not the done thing these days of course.

Nicely done, Julie. Definitely, a two picture post, which you placed in the best sequence. I like the ending image first and then the story image.

They used to do that at Taronga. They still have the old elephant house; it's a heritage building, IIRC.

Hah ... you beat me to it, Rosemary. You lived right beside it ...

But yes, I can remember going on an elephant ride in Taronga Zoo. Not from a photograph but from my memory. I must have been under 6 ...

The old elephant house is no longer as impressive as it was to this child's mind ...

I'll bet that little fellow had a great time too.

Glad to see they've finally finished all the work in the park. It took years.
