The Hawkesbury River - Riverboat Postman

He regaled us with yarns as he negotiated his twin-hulled "cat" around the tidal waters of the mighty Hawkesbury River, 60 kms north of Sydney. He has lived 38 of his years on the river, and spoke the language of the locals, as they sauntered down to collect their letters and parcels, as well as supplies.

He told us how, as an eight-year-old, he would putt his way across the river in his Dad's "tinnie". He is running his boots in, in preparation for his blooding on the Kokoda Trail later this year.
