The Hungry Mile - the green flash

After spotting the motor-bike against the sheer quarry wall, I was steadying myself, when, whoosh ... he was upon me. I lurched backwards, clattering my cane, and spinning my trolley against the chain-mail protective fence. By the time I righted myself, he was gone ...

"The Hungry Mile" is a section of the Millers' Point wharves where day-labourers in The Great Depression would queue, in the hope of being chosen to work unloading ships for the next n hours. Those not chosen, went hungry.

Look at that wall. It's so beautiful!

It reminds me very much of Canadian Shield rock.

I suspect this is Sydney Basin sandstone.

Monumental in every way! Makes the cycle look tiny!

Nice contrast of colour. One would think the skate board rider would be more careful around oldies especially those with a cane.

Très belle falaise. Cela ressemble à une ancienne carrière.

No,no. He presented no danger to me. I presented the danger to me! I was on the other side of the road!

Just that I was so surprised to see him, that it was lucky the two shots I managed came out at all, as I was clutching the fence very soon thereafter ...

I really like the rock walls along that road. It is a rather special drive I reckon.
