This is a statue that pays tribute to Donna, a hearing guide dog, not a seeing eye dog. The statue can be found in the western garden forecourt of Central Station as you make your way down to Railway Square, where George Street morphs into Broadway. Donna was the companion of John Hogan of Pymont, who took Donna with him all over the state in trains. Donna was born in February 1975, and died in May 1995. She was recognised, at that time, by the Guiness Book of Records, as the world's longest living hearing guide dog. |

Quite a sculpture, and quite a tribute!
Good show Donna!
Good dog! So happy that there is a tribute to this loyal friend.
I have never heard of a hearing guide dog before Julie. Donna and other like her must become such a trusted companion to their owners.
Never heard of a hearing dog and have not noticed her statue around the Station. You are like a dog with your exceptional ability to sniff out stuff.
Why, thank you. I will take that as a compliment.
