Sydney Festival: Peace Park, Chippendale

Hoist on mine own petard, as they say. That comes from Hamlet, I am reliably informed.

This poor piano got bad press on its first evening: it is located in Peace Park which is close to Broadway and Central Station. Apparently, at 2am (ish) it is on a direct line home for a particular drunk who reckons he plays piano better drunk than Burt Bacharach does sober - especially if he is accompanying Deano Martino, which he was last night!

Neighbours in terraces over looking this tiny park took the Queen Victoria stance, phoned the City Council and the piano now has a curfew: 9am to 9pm only.

Yer gotta luv this city ...

Just a plunker, Peter: just a plunker! You should have seen the other shots the young man took: they show me trying to play with a fist!

What a wonderful image.... and what a treat for any drunk!

Lovely. I'm determined to find the one near here today, I might even manage chopsticks.

Looks like such fun. Are the pianos in tune?

Ha ha. That's a fun idea, I'm guessing the neighbours really enjoy it!
