He's an older guy..takes care of himself (look at those beautiful nails) traditional (that watch) but with a spark of fun and originality (that red patterned strap!)...signed Sherlock Holmes!
We are on the same wavelength today my friend. What a nice photo. I like this man without knowing him. I don't know why at all. Just a gut feeling. I think the red watch is just great. This guy is not some boring bloke I would guess. I suppose you'll tell us he's a serial killer!HA V
Well his hand looks well taken care of, so he probably works in an office as opposed to manual labor. I can tell by his watch that he has good taste and cares about his appearance. Other than that, I'm not sure!
I will jump in at this stage: this is not the hand of a serial killer!
It is male. It shows neither the softness of youth nor the gnarledness of age. The nails are well looked after therefore probably not a manual worker - not a motor mechanic. Probably not a pianist either.
I will tell you what I met him doing when I put up tomorrow's photo.
Is there anything else you can tell from the hand/arm. I think Thatisthechicken divined a lot from the style of watch. It is funky rather than gold or silver. So probably not a conservative accountant type.
It looks to me that he's wearing a uniform and is making a point about rules/regulation/policies/procedures. The watch is considered low tech in the US so maybe he's a very practical guy who doesn't do a lot of home repair.
Hm it is an IWC watch -- I do not know about the US and Australia, but around here (and if it is not a fake) they are very very expensive. So he is either wealthy or ... hm I think he is wealthy ... manicured fingernails. *Feeling like Sherlock Holmes too*
What a delightful array of conclusions: and the evidence used was great fun.
This was taken very early on during our recent ANZAC Day march: about 9am. This chap, to whom I did not speak, was a clarinettist in a mixed community band. He was medium height, stocky with slightly wavy dark brown hair. I would not think him to be wealthy, but to be in that bracket described as upper middle class: comfortable by way of education. However, he is community minded and a team player: that can be derived from his membership of a marching wind band.
Really? I am flabbergasted. My egalitarian nature makes me want to assert that the watch must be fake then! This chap was NOT pretentious in ANY way. Sure he was smart, comfortable yet understated. I dont have a full shot of him. Drats! Astounding isn't it what you can come up with when you put a few heads together. I have now googled IWC watches and just their website oozes wealth. Martina: I bow to your keen eyesight ... Paula: I also bow to yours, too. He was articulating somethingorother. That is what drew me to the hand; it was being waved around in emphasis of some point or other.
Julie, I would think if he is not pretentious he is not the type of man who buys himself a fake watch - perhaps there are some multimillionaires who are really nice persons? ;-) Might be ... I don't know ... but I love the idea (more than thinking of it as a fake watch).
Uh poor man - as a German proverb goes: His ears must be ringing for days because some bloggers around the world are chatting about his watch and his hands :-)
I've only just come in to find the answer to this mystery. Could still be the IT guy (more specifically IT salesman). It's one of their favourite pastimes trading watches on eBay, building up to more and more expensive models as they make money from their previous trades. Might not be restricted to IT guys, it's just that I know more about them than any other species of male.
Joan Elizabeth, there is only one solution for all this: Julie has to find the guy and ask him, :-). Julie?
I had another idea in the meanwhile: surgeon!
IT-Salesman could be, yes. Sorry, I thought you were talking about us IT-guys: we do not have watches, we have ntp :-D . (Haha, no, really, not many in IT I know are having a watch, never realised this before ...)
Julie, sorry, seems like this thread has a life of its own by now.
I do not mind that a thread has a life of its own, rather I am intruiged about this secret life of IT salesmen. Making a clandestine living by way of watch trading I find secretive and exciting. I can picture this lone clarinet player dismantling and packing his instrument, secreting it into a hidden compartment in his silver Daimler and returning to his apartment on the waterfront where he is connected wifi to the trading floors of Switzerland to determine the best deals on the finest time pieces.

The hand expresses age and perhaps wisdom, or at least the inclination to wait for evidence before jumping on any particular wagon.
But the red, ah, the red, that shows there's a spark left; fire in the gut; he ain't through yet!
I don't know what they express, but hands are always beautifull, besides the face maybe the most personality part of a human..
Cheers from Marcel :)

I get the same feeling as Virginia. The only other thing I could say is his knuckles look swollen, I think he suffers pain.

It's his birthday and he just got a watch
Yes, amazing how much the hands seem to say.
The fact that he even HAS a watch tells you a bit about his age. Young adults - up to 30ish - tend to rely on a mobile phone.
Here's my guess -- middle aged male who works in IT. IT guys seem to like boyish stuff like that watch.

Nobody in IT wears watches ... ;-) ...

Thank you for joining in. I enjoyed that ...
I suppose it is like in Germany: members of marching bands are amateurs, not professionals. So he might be a multi-multi-millonaire?? ;-)
That was fun!
Julie - HE IS WEALTHY, don't let the his avocation fool you...That's a $US 30,000 watch. Fabulous photo though & thought provoking caption.
Tash is so right ... :-D *bg*

Ha!
Julie, you know what you just did? You do know, do you?
You just made me spitting on my keyboard with laughter!
