Drum-taps

I see a sad procession,
And I hear the sound of coming full-key'd bugles,
All the channels of the city streets they're flooding,
As with voices and with tears.

I hear the great drums pounding,
And the small drums steady whirring,
And every blow of the great convulsive drums,
Strikes me through and through.
Walt Whitman

Very nice closeup of the drummers hands and the drum. Whitman's poetry is very suitable for the pictures.

BTW, I took your advice and am starting my Strangers Project with my first Stranger tomorrow. Thanks for the encouragement!

Another set of musical hands beautiful executed and a very apt poetry selection. A delight.

You are so good at getting hands, they always say so much.

Everything I've read says don't do b&w in camera with digital as it comes out flat, not like b&w film. I'm starting by going through some old ones to try and work out which ones would work in b&w, trying to see in b&w. Its really hard. I'm also trying to find scenes as I wander but I can't seem to find the strong lines and shadows that I want. I guess what I'm looking for is that film noir look that Valeria in Verona has been finding. Italian light is so different to ours, though.

I really like all your hands photos...they are so expressive...so much to study in them!

I love the detail of the hands. You can feel them patiently waiting to drum.
