Outside in

Established in 1855 in the legal precinct downtown, the Sydney Law School moved into its new home on main campus at the end of April. From the hustle and bustle of Phillip Street, adjacent to the Supreme Court, and within reach of Wentworth Court, Selbourne Chambers, Wigram Chambers and Barristers' Court, it now resides in splendid modernity at the top of Petersham Hill, aka Camperdown Campus and within swearing distance of the sandstone glory that is The Main Quadrangle.

Although The Law Library is underground, it is connected to the outside world by this glorious structure which I gather is called the Turnbull Reading Room: in reality nowt but a window, albeit fantastical. The image above is taken from the inside looking up: a glorious shaft of natural light. The image below shows the structure against the bulwark of the 9 floors of Fisher Library. The geometry of lines takes ones breath away.

REally, really like the top one. Such strong lines. The second one is good, too but I prefer the first, probably because I'm on a monochrome kick at the moment. Or will be again when they figure out what's wrong with my computer.

PS. You're way, way off with your guess of location for my photo today.

The top photo makes me feel like I could get sucked right up into it. You've done something amazing.

Barracks Museum - correct but think small. If my computer wasn't in hospital I'd post an identifying shot. Isn't it dreadful how much we rely on them now. I started work with a manual typewriter and I guess you did as well.

Interesting that many of you are plumping for the first image. My personal favourite is the second one. I find the similar difference so immensely striking.
