Tasteless visibility

Who had this brilliant idea?

They simply look like boy-toys. They look little different from the street-racers they are supposedly meant to curb. How is garish modernity meant to inspire admiration and respect?

Maybe its a recruitment drive. Must keep my eyes open for them - a purple police car!

Julie, if you haven't already, you must take a look at Selim's post today - you'll love it.

You're right. They look just like the little matchbox cars that so many little boys adore.

They remind me of the Mad Max movies:) Didn't he drive a souped up police car? Maybe the purchasing officer is a fan of the movies.

Actually I quite like them but will we see orange or purple police uniforms next?

They come in scarlet and green, too. And I keep getting them confused with Kelty's AFP which seem to be all over the Eastern Suburbs. If they have purple and orange uniforms, then I want to see them march to the strains of The Village People.

Maybe they're going to start marketing Matchbox Car versions to raise revenue?

My goodness, they look like my 5 year old grandson's toy "crash-up" cars!

WEll they are just awful is all I can say. They look like buffoons riding around in those!

I'm sorry, these just made me laugh. Maybe it's the kinder, gentler police force.

Does a tune play when they open the car door?

I really understand what you mean. I think it is the 1st time I see such colourful police car 'fleet'. Your photos are wonderful!

Were these pictures taken on Australia Day or do they always drive around with the flags on their cars? Not very aerodynamic! I understand police need cars as fast as the ones boy racers drive but surely they don't need to look like them as well? Mind you, Traffic Cops in England have similarly 'pimped up' cars.

Hi again, Julie. That is my daughter in the "Fox Goes Free" pub shot but I hope she doesn't see it. She's a stunning girl. That photograph doesn't begin to do her justice. You are so observant. I eagerly anticipate opening your photos each day and reading your comments on my site and other CDPBlogs.

Yes it does look a bit tacky! I bet they love driving around. You don't see many purple cars let alone police cars!

DC: I took these photos on ANZAC Day. Hence, the deserted street. This is Park Street between the two sections of Hyde Park.

Are they police or just F1 racer themself.
