Vividly Sydney

Vivid is a new festival of music, light and ideas which runs from 26 May to 14 June around the iconic foreshores of Sydney Cove. It encompasses Smart Lights, Creative Sydney, Luminous and Fire Water. These photographs cover the Smart Lights theme.

The festival drew massive crowds: the precinct was packed this evening as we wandered around. A new festival over a long weekend at the start of Winter is most welcome. Hopefully, this is a festival that learns as it goes along. It will be a massive event on the calendar once it is bedded down.

That looks great! The only pics I've ever seen of the Opera House are the usual postcard views. It must be wonderful to see it like that in person.

That's so fun and fantastic! Actually, the entire festival sounds fantastic. I'm hoping you'll be able to catch the other events. 'Luminous' and 'Fire Water' sound intriguing! :)

I will see Luminous during the week but not sure about F&W. It sounds absolutely my sort of thing: but I am already booked for those three nights! Drats!!

Fantastic shots Julie. I have taken the opera house other times it has been dressed up with lights like that but they have never been satisfactory.

By the way, I read in the SMH about these events on the weekend and hoped you would capture some of it for us ... you haven't let me down :-)

Thank you, my friends. I will do my utmost to get the Fire and Water boat next weekend, too, although I expect the crowds to be crushing.,

Awesome pictures Julie. Your camera captured them beautifully. I took a few snaps on the weekend but nothing turned out as brilliantly as yours. I hope to post some of them later in the week.
