Man's best friend ... phooey!

Dogs are nowt but status symbols on a leash! If you want an animal who worships the very ground you walk upon: share your life with a cat!

How can Fido give unbridled love and adoration to an owner who walks him in pink fluffy slippers and meets friends wearing thongs ... some folks have questionable taste, I tell ya! How can Fido look up to anyone who half strangles him whilst doing endless thumb exercises! And she can't even see that the bloke on the receiving end is not really into her!

Mogs rule!

Well I never! I'd like to see that cat play soccer.

My dear, Phoeb, I thought I would just sneak this post in whilst you were out playing roofies ... whatever that is. For the next 24 hours, just go find another plumber to make out with, whilst I root for the other team!!

Better keep tabs, er, tabbies, on 'em!

I've lived with cats since I was a baby and I don't think I'd know what to do with a dog.

I'm a cat person but I liked your dog shots too.

I am in total agreement with you on this one!

Moi, aussi, but of course.

Well, now. Dontcha know cats are gods and expect adoration and worship from the humans fortunate enough to have one?

Anyway, I think your photos have inadvertently caught a convention of pooches - probably planned long ago...the theme of which may well be what to do with all the cats taking attention and affection for the much more deserving dogs.

Not saying I agree, but ...

I don't currently have either. Dogs are more fun to play with, cats are better for cuddling and living with!

Love the pink slippers though!

No, no, no, you have it wrong. You are expected to worship the very ground a cat walks, or rather lies on.

Love my cats - learned to love our dog. Funny that. Funny post too - got me chuckling.

Oh they're so cute. They're gorgeous. Love the pink fluffy slippers.

Ha! Well actually I like dogs AND cats and comparing them is like comparing apples and oranges. Nice shots - I'll not read your words to my dogs in case they get upset. Of course I don't own a pair of slippers, yet alone pink fluffy ones, so I'm a perfect owner.

And what about the working dogs, rescue dogs, the drug dogs, the guide dogs for the blind, the hearing dogs - can a cat do that?

All tongue in cheek, dear Julie. Miao to cats and woof woof to dogs.

Taken as TiC, Jilly: as was my post! However, I do have one cat who THINKS she just might be a dog ...

Julie, you are right - that first photo on Menton DP is indeed a Bird of Paradise (Strelitzia) - the last one is Heliconia. I've changed the copy. I knew/know that - duh! I've even got Strelitzia in my garden here and I grew Heliconia in Cairns.

I was thinking of the American English thong and was wondering why I couldn't see one in the photos, then I realized you meant flip-flops ... erm ... sandals.

I knew that semantic problem was in the post but was damned if I was going to cross-culturise my post!! We do have sandals, too. But there is no such thing as a flip-flop in Australia ... well, not in polite society! And even in our unpolite society - which we have our share of - flips-slops are worn higher up than the foot!

Love the top shot. I used to pass a pair of dogs like that every morning when I lived in Kent Street last year.

Those slippers are priceless, if not practical.

I love dogs. Cats, not so much. :-)

I grew up with dachshunds and they were the love of my life. But I also know the responsibilities and time it takes to keep them healthy and happy.

The pink slippers are too funny. I can truthfully say I have never taken my dogs for a walk while wearing slippers. Nor do I text on my cell. All the photos are great but I love the cat nap.

AND WHAT is wrong with pink fluffy slippers???????????????????????????????????????

Miaow! (In a good way!) I have a theory that people who hate cats have been shunned by a discerning moggy in the past. I like the quiet, non-demanding company of a cat, unless it's a Burmese! However, I must admit to being more than fond of our Irish Setter who we picked up from the rspca shelter...that dog was an utter lunatic and a law unto himself (like a cat) which is what I so loved about him.
