Some kids have an inbuilt eye for sport. Their brain calculates the geometry of a kick, catch or throw exquisitely. Their body responds with the elegant curve of mastery even at a young age.
Running ahead of the ball and delivering a perfectly targetted back flick was not a problem for this fellow. And his dad was up the other end being ball-boy. Such hard and hot work this playing in the park with dad in winter. Centennial Park in the Eastern Suburbs is perfect for people watching ...

How sweet! Looks like they had a good time.
Good colour. Have you upped the saturation and/or sharpness in camera, I'm thinking of trying it.
Yes, I have upped and downed a lot of in-camera settings. I am experimenting to see what I like under what circumstances.
The whole process is a pleasure, isn't it?
Agreed. The entire process is a pleasure.
The "darkness" in these shots is because the light was so intense that I was deliberately underexposing by one setting (and sometimes even more) because I did not want it to flash-out on me.
Aww. Such great exercise; fun to watch, too!
I admire your willingness to experiment with your camera... too often we get into a rut with settings... they turned out well!
I like the top shot, captures the moment so perfectly. People watching is one thing but actually spotting the photo opportunity is another.
He looks a little similar to Obama.
