Decisions, decisions, decisions ...

It's a tough life, and a tough life requires tough decisions. Dearie me ... a satellite dish or a new front fence?

Much scratching of the head and contemplation of the navel would have been required before that thorny issue was resolved!

Funny dilemma, I'd go for the fence...
Nice picture of neglect with a raw fence and a satellite dish!

Well you know, they get a new front fence and someone's going to write on it.

It's all about priorities I guess!

Heh. Fence might be a dive, but at least they've got foxtel. (said ironically, of course!)

Hmmm. When they got a new roof, they recycled the old one as the fence?

Hey I'm all with their decision. I wouldn't knock down a fence like that!

I just now happened to see this post, after posting my entry for today. The two images are curiously similar, don't you think?

Isn't this a return to the old "Welfare Cadillac" question? If you know you're living day to day, you can't afford a mansion, but you can sit in a Cadillac, even if it's up on blocks. I don't know if I'm doing justice to the argument, but I might have made the choice they did, especially as I sit here watching college football on a flat screen. I couldn't see my white picket fence if I had one, but I can see several games with the push of a button. Sounds degenerate, but is it?

I don't know the expression "welfare cadillac" but I am aware of the argument. It boils down, I guess, to disposable income vs assets. If assets is the glass and DI is the liquid, then someone who opts for the satellite dish is drinking their disposable income because they have it and at the half-full mark it seems like so much. Whereas someone who opts for a better quality fence, sees that the glass could be fuller and adds to the value of his assets in an attempt to eventually increase the amount of liquid in the glass.

Watching college football on a flat screen is always degenerate ... but that is another (cultural) argument!!
