A cachophony of islanders

... take a warm blast of pipers droning ...

... to that add a wee dramm of fiddlers sawing ...

... confound with a thunder of drums a quivering ...

... harmonise with a swing of lads a lilting ...

... and our couple goes a slinking ...

Visit Arthur's Circus in the Hobart suburb of Battery Point or allow the colour of Australia's island state to wash over you.

As all the other commenters already have said: wonderful series. For some reason the photo with the violin on the woman's legs touches me most.

Back to blogging next week, I hope. Will try and put up some archive shots over the weekend. Then move on to a few holiday teasers, until I get the albums/travel blog sorted. Don't know when I'll get to take some new Sydney shots. Will definitely get some Strangers up over the weekend.

A wonderful series ... I too like the violin on the lap one, there is something unexpected and beautiful about it ... the kind of detail you see so well.

That looks like a fantastic festival — and international too! I love taiko performances. Your first photo best sums up the energy and vibrancy of the entire event, I think.

What a mix! Scottish bagpipes, Japanese drums and Argentinian tango! About as varied as plants in a botanical garden.
