Weekend Reflections: Seeing round corners

Exiting into Burton Street from the National Art School there is a mirror to ensure that no pedestrians are squished.

Good one, especially with the man walking and you shooting.

I predict that you'll see a man in a blue shirt to your right!

Looks like a giant eye about to blink. Fun to see you in the shot, reflecting on reflections.

I really like that Julie--a reflective self portrait!

You seem to have the same problem as I have. It's impossible to pass a mirror and not take a photo!

What I like about this reflection is the subject matter of the street on one side the stone buildings on the other is something you would have been unlikely to shoot without the mirror ... and the man balancing off your own image ... very nice indeed.

Nice composition and a bit of a self-portrait to boot.

Top shot Julie. I like the explanation that it ensures no pedestrains are 'squished'. Hee hee. I'm not familiar with this area at all. I'll have to check it out.
Also, I made a slight error on the location of that sculpture in my post today. I should have said it was in the 'northwestern' corner of Sydney Park. It's the smaller hill directly behind the chimneys. You're right, the cricket pitch and grandstand are in the northeastern corner. Didn't mean to lead you astray and get you lost trying to find it. :)

Great composition! I keep getting drawn back into the mirror when I look at the brickwork.

It would be very sad for us to learn you were squished just after you retired. That would be totally unjust. Totally.

This is excellent, Julie. Now I need to try to capture something similar. Hmmm. I wonder where I can find one of these mirrors.

Excellent Julie, I love this!

Good shot! Squishing pedestrians is something to be avoided, and this mirror makes it easier to do. It also lets the photographer do "stealth" photography!

My link at James's blog is faulty and McLinky won't let me correct it, so here it is:

While being a student I was told that there are even straight curves, now I know about round corners - thank you.

A wonderful Sunday for you.

Very cool composition. A gateway, a streetscape and a self-portrait--a very busy photo. Thanks for your kind comments at baysidelife. I'm glad you stopped by so I could find you.

Great reflection.
Hi Julie, thanks for your visit. It does bother me a bit the waste of my talents. But then if no one wants them, what can I do! so I just enjoy every day that I have.

Great ~ crisp ~ clear. Many reflections, actually ~ you can see buildings in the opposite glass buildings too! I'm inspired.

I am not the best driver. Once I was almost in a collision because the other driver turned 90 degrees into my path. My husband kept saying, you should have looked into that mirror, you could have defensive driving. Guess what, I never even knew that mirror was there. After that, i always look into that mirror.
