Weekend Reflection - The Lily Pond

The Lily Pond is fed by a natural, underground spring originating in Lachlan Swamp. Its small island, vegetated with papyrus, provides a refuge for purple swamphens, black swans and the very noisy reed warbler. When the weather is warm, the water of Lily Pond brims with dragonfly nymphs, water boatmen and aquatic earthworms. Lily Pond appears to be more ornamental that each of the other ponds in the Parklands. Next week I will show you more of the Monet-like bridge that you just see a little of this week.

A member of the Weekend Reflection community.

I am sampling the joys of Melbourne - including a day at the tennis. I will be back at my desk on Thursday 28th January.

Both are very beautiful. I can't really pick one over the other, so I'll appreciate them both! The tall tree in the second shot jumps out of the photo and catches your eye.

I take what I said yesterday about water images being a snap to do. These reflections are just right. I tried some at a bush creek last weekend. The water was mirror smooth but I ended up with a hodge podge of reflections (will have to see what severe cropping will do) ... whereas your's are a standout. Enjoy the tennis.

Both of these are really lovely. In particular I like the way everything seems to revolve around the lone palm tree in the second. Gorgeous reflections.

The "Lily" Pond? what a beautiful name! & lovely place to see as well. Enjoy your samplings!

I caught something almost identical to your second image whilst I was in Florida. Hope you're having as great a time as I had.

Florida at this time of year is probably a blessed relief from Vermont!

The palm tree here is quite some distance beyond the furthest bank of the pond into which it reflects. It is a spectacularly beautiful little area. Very contemplative early week mornings, but avoid it on Saturdays!
