Engineer stuff ...

My brothers, standing within the Finger Wharf at Wooloomooloo Bay, facing East and overlooking two ships of the Royal Australian Navy. Directly in front, L50 HMAS Tobruk is a multi-purpose troop and rollon-rolloff heavy duty vehicle carrier constructed at the Carrington Slipways in Newcastle. One brother is a metallurgist with some permuatation of the company formerly known as BHP. The other was a radio technician with the RAAF.

They were speaking a foreign language ...

They look fit and hardy in profile, and that's a tricky shot and you pulled it off, girl.

At first it's amusing when you can only understand one word in ten but then it becomes trying;-) Great shot - it looks wet underfoot.

I like this picture. You just keep getting better and better.

I've noticed that engineers speak primarily in initials: "The THJ of the BAC was out by .002...." that sort of thing. Make up your own at random, it will get their attention!
:-)

Love the silhouettes with the massive boat.

I love the puzzle in this startling shot! Which way are the two men looking? I've tried both ways and they both work.

Fantastic shot. Not sure how you managed the silhouette of your bothers, yet retained the detail of the screen, but I love it.

Thank you for your comments, Friends.

What I did here is apply a similar technique to that which I use for sky shots. I note the correct exposure and then take it down two more stops, which increases the definition of the background. In this case, I went down yet another f-stop losing all definition in the foreground.

During the set-up they had been facing each other totally, but just as I shot they turned to see what the hell I was doing!

Thanks for the lesson, Julie.

Are there any online resources you'd recommend for learning more about the technical aspects of photography? Thanks.

I'm guessing they are quite fond of their sister. One my brothers is also an engineer and the other in media and communications.

This is lovely, the masculinity (foreign language) just oozes through.
