On the banks of the mighty Fitzroy River ...

A winter's morning rises over the sleepy hamlet of Fitroy Crossing in the Kimberley Region of Western Australia.

Looks like the kind of sunrise one wants to sit and watch with friends, cup of coffee in hand.

Today's silhouette and yesterday's reflections are just superb.

Glorious - hand held or tripod? I know I'm asking a lot of questions but I'm off to Broken Hill and Lake Eyre in 3 weeks and I need to try and match you - difficult but I'm going to try.

Hand held. The important thing with this one was to get the angles right. I have a range of shots but a step to either the right or to the left ruined the composition. Once again, the colour was achieved by careful use of f-stop.

I have lots of shots of birdlife - that was the greatest challenge. To get the light right, to catch them in flight and to compose it the way I wanted to. That is a skill still in progress.

Which group are you going to Lake Eyre with?

Very dramatic, but telling me it is early morning spoils it for me ... I just don't cope well with morning ... would prefer to think it is a sunset.

Lovely colours and silhouette. I was impressed with how high the buildings were off the ground to cope with floods in the wet season.

Joan: s'oright ... I have two sunsets just for you!

Diane: Yes, agreed. At FC the accommodation was a treat and well off the ground. And what about those flood markers before the Geike Gorge cruise where they were above the waiting rotunda!!
