Ruby Tuesday - Blood suckers!

As my brother and I gingerly picked our way along Molly Milligan Creek looking for the tell-tale splash from a platypus in the wild making a dash for his burrow in the riverbank, we flicked the leaches from our boots and socks. Upon our return to the house, I realised I had missed the blighter who hid behind the belt of my jeans and t'other one who slithered up under the sleeve of my skivvy.

Did anyone ever mention that leach sucks itch? Like billy-oh ...

Oh gross, gross, GROSS!!
My sympathy to you, poor Julie!

(Lavender oil stops my itching, but that's only from bug bites. You could try.)
Good luck.

Oh dear - but they used to think 'blood-letting' was good for you, so maybe you'll be feeling particularly frisky in a day or two!

Not an experience I've ever had and one I'm not looking for! Your gales have reached Newcastle this-morning!

Well, they were attracted to you. The things you can pick up on the riverbank...

Pack an antihistamine cream in your camera bag, it'll stop all itchy irritations while you're out and about ;)

Quite an experience. You could have donated them to the local hospital though I expect they have specially bred leeches to ensure that they're not contaminated. Oh dear, I feel all shuddery now ;-)

You are a stronger woman than I! Just the word l----es gives me the willies.
Very interesting photo, however. Thanks for sharing a bit of your environment. Happy week!!

Oh my! I don't think I'd appreciate leeches on me. I'm scratching just thinking about it. Happy Ruby Tuesday to you. I love your spider web shots!!

Yuck, yuck, and more yuck. Reminds me of the leeches scene in African Queen. Yuck. Being the intrepid sort, maybe it's time to add chest high "waders" into your wardrobe. :-D

Oi that's a nasty experience! We have them also in the Netherlands. But the green ants are unknown here. Thank you for the comment!

Crikey you've joined yet another meme.

Erk, remind me to stay away from that place, I'm not keen on leeches.
