Off lead at the RHW

Across the road from me, there is a relatively new park which was carved out when the old site of the Royal Hospital for Women was 'de-mobbed' and converted into very swish apartments. The RHW was moved out to be on the same site as the Prince of Wales (PoW) Hospital at Randwick.

This park is an off-lead park from something like 4pm - 8pm. All the owners are assiduous at cleaning up after their pets. The pets entertain each other and neighbour gets to meet neighbour. There are many low-rise apartments in the vicinity, and terraces that don't have much of a yard. I often go over to quietly enjoy.

Lovely to have a park close by to enjoy and the dogs certainly look as they are having a great time. Good to hear they have responsible owners too.

Oh, how nice for you, a park with canine entertainment! There's an off-leash area near here, but we haven't tried Lindy there yet. She lived wild for an unknown length of time and is mistrustful of other dogs, but she's getting a lot better, so I'm sure Dick will take her there soon. Irresistible photo-ops!!

Wonderful photos, Julie. I especially like the playfulness in the top one.

I"m a hard nose about keeping your chiens on a leash but these look pretty well behaved. Love them all.

These dogs are having such fun. I particularly love the first shot in the sunshine. Julie, I've a dog here at the moment - a 10 month old Saluki - who looks and plays rather like your last post here today although I realise that is not a Saluki, but not dissimilar being a sight-hound.

I am not sure how I feel about grey hounds and whippets and dogs of that ilk They are just so delicate and shy. I need to feel an emotional connect with my animal friends. When I am over there next, I will approach her and she what reaction I get.

I enjoyed your dog off-leash photos and description. Having a dog was big for me when I was around the age of the boy in your photo.

I had to think a bit when I saw the title, as "off lead" is not familiar. I figured it out when I saw the sweet dog photos, and Kay, fellow Kanuck, confirmed my understanding. :-)

nh ... off lead ... off leash ... would be interesting to see the derivation of 'leash' ... one comes from ME 'led' and the other from ME 'lees' ...
