A noble note

One day last week, we had a day of mutual introductions, did my dear friend Gail and I. She to my grand-daughter, Alannah, and I to her two new foals, birthed just eight days prior.

Gail and Peter run a boutique horse stud outside Cessnock. I have taken you there on other occasions, but with all the rain of late, the paddocks are looking splendiferous.

Let me introduce you.

On the left is Ondeeki's filly, Lexie (Lexington Avenue).
On the right is Misty's stallion, Monty (Montezuma's Gold).

I am to traipse along behind Gail at the next Easter Yearling Sales at the Inglis complex in Newmarket.

Old age hath yet his honour and his toil;
Death closes all: but something ere the end,
Some work of noble note, may yet be done.

Monty would almost pass for a palomino. They are both beautiful.

Indeed, Bill. Here is part of an email I received from Gail this morning;

"Misty (Wrangler's Tarradale Mist, if you please) is a registered Paint. She went to a Palomino Quarter Horse. Montezuma Gold is registrable as a Paint, and will be. What will he do? Don't know yet - but Monty is a poppet."

Interesting that your little palomino foal is from a palomino quarter horse as both are of US origin. Besides their striking looks Palominos are said to be a bit smarter than the average horse and ride very well. Will they keep Monty? She would make a lovely mount for Alannah. Western movie star Roy Rogers rode "Trigger" who was a magnificent palomino, and was said to be exceptionally intelligent.

I suspect Monty will eventually be sold via the Yearling sales at Easter 2012. He should fetch a few hundred thousand.

It is Lexie who does not have the breeding to race. However, she is a well bred dressage pony.

Gail's parents were from the USA and she spent her youth there although her father was a journalist for the old Time Magazine so they moved around a lot.

Thank you for checking back on your comment. Not many folk have the time to do that.

I was looking for the peacocks.
My brain read:
"the peacocks are looking splendiferous"
