Australians are a faithful mob

These are not British Bulldogs. Nor are they French Bulldogs. I think they are Pugs. They appear to be of Chinese origin dating back centuries.

This pair was waiting outside the grocery shop at Five Ways, Paddington, about 9 o'clock. I have seen them about many times before. Many people in my area, select 'designer' dogs of small stature, often opting for two.

Today is 'Australia Day' upon which we celebrate European settlement of our land. The indigenous people have lived here for milennia. Europeans settled here in January 1788, establishing a series of colonies under the British crown. These disparate colonies federated under a constitution on 1st January, 1901.

It is forecast to be very hot today, ranging in the city from 33 - 39 C. I have chosen to cover the 'Welcome Morning' ceremony in Farm Cove commencing at 8am. Story tomorrow.

I just love your photography and your style and regularly visit your blog.

Enjoy your 'hot' Australia Day .... too cold for me in the UK as a non-Brit, can't wait to get down under for higher degrees of 'C

Yes, they are pugs. And yes, they are overweight.
And 39C is too hot for man and beast!
It's too late to say "enjoy Australia Day" but I hope you did, and I'm looking forward to more photos.

Cute little pugs, and it does not look as if they have missed any meals either!

I have never been a fan of pugs but a friend got one and he is so loving that I have changed my mind - they are quite nice! 39C is plenty hot for a dog or a human!!

Irresistable! And the photos are 'made' with the addition of the flowers and pot.

These pugs are too FAT! Not healthy.

And yes they are pugs. French bulldogs are much bigger, totally different in fact although both have the wide bulldog style jaw.

Funny how people with love or loathe pugs. It's just how it is.
