Ballina 5, Darlinghurst

Perched atop the rising Liverpool Street, this double tower block is elegant on the outside, but probably dark and pokey ont inside.

Very interesting architecture.
I love brickwork.

Oh, yes, lovely exterior. I'm hoping you're wrong about the interior, but you're in a better position to judge the windows than I am.

I like this view, straight up.

Yeah, the straight up view is a corker, Jim. Works every time.

I like brickwork, too, Margaret. Anything to do with 'from the soil'.

Kay, the building faces appropriately, which is to the NE. However, the windows are small and there are no french-doors nor balconies. I think it was built between the wars. Wonderful location, though. Very central to the city.

This building would have more charater than today's concrete, steel and glass buildings that are thrown up today.

Yep, I agree. But I would want a patio, or outside access if some sort.

But this one probably has wood panelling, and picture rails, and decorative cornices ... bliss.

I am not sure about pokey. We owned an apartment of that vintage once and the rooms were of very generous proportions and once the walls were given a fresh coat of paint and the dark woodwork freshened up it was a delightful place ... the only draw back was the lack of car parking, the fire station over the road and the constant hum of traffic from the busy street below.

Yep could have high ceilings and ... so well made.
