Behind Bars

The same Cutler Footway that I have featured this week. The walkway - as opppsed to the viaduct - is encased in barbed wire reminding me of the scenes where Steve McQueen was checking out the fencing on the internment camp in 'The Great Escape'. It is as though every man and his dog is hell bent on ending it all and it is the role of the 'nanny state' to prevent this. The Sydney Harbour Bridge has similar barbed cages.

Julie, your shots are gorgeous. Very cinematographic.

Oh, Julie, you really do barbed wire and rust like no one else. Beautiful.

It is a strange commentary on modern life, governance, society, etc. that we must be "protected" so thoroughly.

I just love the cactus. It reminds me of these two fellows, one asked the other, 'Do you know the difference between a cactus and a Louis IX chair'? 'No, says the other one'. The reply:, 'Sit in it, you'll find out'.

I love the rust - you've captured it beautifully!!

Really like the top one in mono. It brings out the light on the wire.

I have never walked along that path but the shots immediately reminded me of the walkway on the harbour bridge. Those fences do save some people from themselves.

A bit ugly...dare I say.
We have high fences on footbridges to stop idiots throwing boulders onto cars below.

I love old fences, the texture, the colours. These are phenomenal!
