Located in Walker Street, North Sydney, 'The Firehouse Hotel' is an ingenious reuse of an old building. This is happening the world over as more heritage orders are slapped onto buildings in central areas.

The internals here were gutted - including the internal 'pole', which is a shame. But it is a lovely place for a drink with an upstairs deck out the back. My lamb rissotto was delicious as was my $9 glass of Shiraz from the Clare Valley.

Like the detail shots!
I especially like all the photos of curvy bits in the middle ... a nicely selected group.
Another fan of that middle grouping - gorgeous detail! I especially like the contrast of the ceiling fixture (fan?) against the orange-brown ceiling...
also like the furniture closeups - esp. the light on the chair.
That's a great reuse of an old building. The old pole could have found a new use with dancers in the new hotel. ;)

Aha...I'm going to North Sydney tomorrow.Trying out that lamb risotto. That chicken shop near Thomas Dux is disgusting...the chickens are undercooked...!
