Five Ways (5) - the hub

To complete the pattern, to come full circle, show all the spokes on the wheel, by rights, today's post should have concentrated on Goodhope Road. Neah! Bit boring: just houses, no perspective. So, let's look at the hub around which this part of Paddo revolves.

It is quite a piddlng little round-a-bout, but sooo much nicer than a set of lights. Ad the streets around here are so narrow and so windy that there is not a lot of hoonery (put that in your vocab-pipe!).

See the harbour glimpse in the shot immediatly above here. If the day were sunny, and the sky blue and the water shimmering .. ah ... bliss. But we have the grey end of the Cyclone Yasi tail.

I told you the buses were not designed for this intersection. All buses travelling east take this trajectory. The ones travelling west seem not to have the same issues.

So, to the right of the pub is Broughton ST, next to Gustos is Heeley Street, In front of the four gaudy terraces is Glenmore Road. Between the chicken shop and the angular chemist shop is Goodhope Road, and in front of 'A fish called Paddo' is Glenmore Road (east). We have come full circle.

Julie, I am enjoying your 5-ways stories and photos and at times marvel in the differences in our English language around the globe... I need to note the words that delight just as I would with new French words...

... and that's not a lot of hoonery, my friend!

I love the little view of the harbor, and the path of the bus made me smile.

If I die and come back as an Australian, I want to drive that bus! It doesn't like roundabouts and neither do I.

"Hoonery"? Is that what the bus is doing driving over the roundabout?

Specially like the top and bottom shots ... they show the reality of that tiny hub. My word it's a crush of a place.

Will post your Royal later ... going out to the Rest for no rest first. As for the man with the hat .. I made a little rule for myself back in the beginning to not colour the people or their clothes.

I'm so glad I don't have to drive through there.

I love the term 'hoonery'. lol Regarding the colourful lights on Laiki Bank House in my shot today. They seem to be permanent. It's good that they're creatively lighting up some of these office buildings these days.

Does the cyclist with the back pack really have an umbrella too or is it on the footpath? An energetic hub.

Hah! You know I had not noticed that 'umbrella'. It is on the footpath outside the chicken shop, but I don't understand why as the pavement is covered by an awning. There are tables out there, but it is a bit close to the traffic for mine.
