Stuffed

My body is back down under, the brain will follow soon. Do you know that terrifying retrieval of subterranean gases known as fracturing? My brain feels as though it has been fracked.

Beneath my studio in the 7eme, on Rue Bourgogne, was this charming little French cafe. Charming to me as they did not serve me heaps, and allowed me to 'emporter' back upstairs. A 'sac a dos' is what I know as a back-pack. You might know it as a rucksack. Or by another term ...

So sorry your brain feels fracked, Julie I know the feeling, aka jet-lag.
Love Le Sac a Dos. I guess the things in the window are the wine corks in your B&W photo. What fun!
Wish we hadn't had to leave Paris just as you arrived, so I never had a chance to meet you at the Sac a Dos for a coffee (probably better service and not as costly as The Source, LOL).
Glad you are home, safe if not yet well. Took me a week and a half to recover, but it can be done.

What a great little place! I love the corks filling the windows. Here in Walla Walla there is an eaterie called "The Olive Marketplace" and its walls just inside the door are covered in corks like this. People use pins to tack business cards, posters and advertisements to the cork walls.

Welcome home. Travel is great but it is always nice to return to one's own bed. You made the most of your trip. Thanks for sharing it.

Sounds like you had perfect weather (unlike Sydney where it has been miserable) and off course a great Parisian time. Welcome home.

Well, at least you do not feel like you missed anything while you were gone - hah! So sorry that you are jet-lagged but you will be planning your next trip as you recover. So glad that we got to meet and I am still enjoying your photos, my friend!

Genie

All hell broke loose while I was gone, Genie. But I was kept in touch with a most fluid situation by my wonderful daughter. I will see my father in about an hour, and she even has accepted an upgrade to his care situation on my behalf. More on my other blog later ... when I know more.

Julie, a week or so ago my brain knew exactly what yours feels like --- but, fortunately, it has recovered ( and so will you)!! Glad you are home safe and so sorry your Paris time had to end. It was wonderful to have the opportunity to meet you. Love your photos and your posts! Bon weekend.

Welcome back. Great cork photo. Now if only you had been able to personally sample each bottle..

Welcome back. Any interest in any of the Head On events (particularly the portraits in Paddington) if your family situation allows and once you are over the jetlag.

Welcome home. Le Sac a Dos looks a great little cafe to have close by. What a great cork collection. Hope the brain catches up soon. The granddaughter might help in that department.

I have so enjoyed your journey abroad. This very day I was wondering how your Dad was doing. Hope all is well.

Welcome back. Good luck readjusting.

Jet lag. They really should do something about that. Would have been nice to stay above a friendly cafe.

I feel your pain...though have never had to travel quite so far. Courage!
Love the blue on the exterior. I have a Flickr group called "French Blues". If you're on Flickr I would love for you to share. :)

Take it easy. Re-entry can be a white-knuckle experience. Especially when you've been away as long as you have. Love this post with the corks and the context.

Love the corks as well. I have a big basketful that I've kept for the kids to line up and make roads and cities with. I think I"ll have a go at photographing it now.

Amazingly I don't suffer from jet lag but it could hit me at any time! Maybe I live in perpetual jet lag.

Keep the Paris photos coming.

Is jet lag worse going to/from Europe to Australia than here??? Being down under and also having to deal with the time changes seems like it would be...no wonder you feel fracked!!! Hope you feel better soon...
